Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis had to leave the game against the Toronto Raptors on Sunday night due to a left eye injury. The incident occurred when Davis was hit in the face while attempting to block a dunk by Toronto’s Jakob Poeltl.

After making a one-handed block, Poeltl accidentally hit Davis in the face and eyes with his off hand. Davis fell to the ground in pain and had to be helped off the court. Sources reported that Davis experienced swelling in his eye, which made it difficult for him to keep it open. As a precaution, he will see an ophthalmologist on Monday.

This is not the first time Davis has had an eye injury, as he suffered a corneal abrasion to the same eye back in March. Despite the injury, Davis had been off to a strong start this season, leading the NBA in scoring with 32.4 points per game.

In Davis’ absence, Jaxson Hayes stepped up and made significant contributions to the Lakers’ victory. Hayes scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds, impressing his teammates and coach with his performance.

Lakers coach JJ Redick commented on Davis’ injury, stating that it takes time for clear vision to return after trauma to the eye. He also praised Hayes for his outstanding play in Davis’ absence.

Davis, a nine-time All-Star, has a history of injury problems but managed to play in a career-high 76 games last season. Despite missing a game earlier in the week with a bruised heel, Davis had been a dominant force on the court this season.

The Lakers have not provided a timeline for Davis’ return, but fans are hopeful that he will recover quickly and continue his stellar performance throughout the season. We wish Anthony Davis a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back on the court soon.
