Eugenio Suarez has been on fire in July, hitting 10 homers and 27 RBIs with a .326 average. He recently belted three homers in a game against the Nationals, matching his career best of five RBIs. The Diamondbacks, who have won six of their last seven games, are just half a game out of an NL wild-card spot.
The Nationals, on the other hand, have struggled against the Diamondbacks, allowing 24 consecutive runs over two games. Manager Dave Martinez is hoping his team can bounce back and salvage a 3-3 record on their current road trip.
Unfortunately for the Diamondbacks, first baseman Christian Walker was placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain. The team acquired veteran first baseman/designated hitter Josh Bell from the Marlins to fill in for Walker.
In the upcoming series finale, Arizona’s right-hander Zac Gallen will be looking to win his third consecutive start. He has a 3.70 ERA this season and has had success against the Nationals in the past. On the other side, Washington’s left-hander MacKenzie Gore will be seeking his first victory since June 14. Gore has struggled in his last seven starts, posting a 7.63 ERA.
It will be an exciting matchup between two talented pitchers, with Gallen looking to continue his winning streak and Gore hoping to turn his luck around. The Diamondbacks will be aiming for a sweep against the Nationals, while Washington will be fighting to avoid a series sweep.
