New Orleans Saints offensive tackle Ryan Ramczyk will miss the entire 2024 season due to a knee injury. This news came after he was placed on the reserve/physically unable to perform list. Ramczyk has been dealing with knee issues for some time now, and the decision to sideline him for the season was not unexpected.
The 30-year-old lineman had already undergone knee surgery to address cartilage damage in the offseason after being limited to just 12 games in 2023. Ramczyk revealed that he has been battling cartilage problems for the past three seasons, which has clearly taken a toll on his performance.
Despite his struggles with injuries in recent years, Ramczyk has been a standout player for the Saints since being drafted in the first round out of Wisconsin in 2017. He has received multiple All-Pro honors and has started every game he has played in over seven seasons.
In addition to Ramczyk, the Saints also placed several other players on the physically unable to perform list, including defensive ends Chase Young and Tanoh Kpassagnon, tight end Juwan Johnson, and linebacker Nephi Sewell. Receiver Chris Olave was placed on the non-football injury list, while wideout Bub Means was activated from the non-football injury list.
Chase Young, a former second overall pick in the 2020 draft, was a key offseason acquisition for the Saints. However, his production has been hampered by a significant knee injury suffered during the 2021 season.
The Saints will have to make adjustments to their lineup to account for the absence of Ramczyk and other injured players. It remains to be seen how the team will cope with these setbacks as they prepare for the upcoming season.
