Cleveland Cavaliers Announce New Training Facility Set to Open in 2027

Cleveland’s very own Donovan Mitchell, the All-Star guard, took part in a special groundbreaking ceremony for the Cavaliers’ upcoming state-of-the-art downtown training facility. The facility is set to open its doors in 2027 and will be known as the Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center.

During the ceremony, Mitchell, along with other teammates and Mayor Justin Bibb, symbolically kicked off the construction of the 210,000 square feet facility, which will be a key part of the city’s redevelopment project along the Cuyahoga River. The funding for this ambitious project comes from none other than the team’s owner, Dan Gilbert.

Expressing his excitement about the new training facility, Mitchell highlighted the team’s dedication to supporting its players. He emphasized how crucial investments like this are for the players’ well-being and their longevity in the sport. Mitchell, who recently signed a contract extension with the Cavs, praised Cleveland’s commitment to its athletes and their development.

The partnership between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Clinic has also been extended for 25 years, ensuring that the athletes have access to top-notch training facilities and equipment. The Cleveland Clinic Global Peak Performance Center will not only benefit the players but will also be open to the public, offering advanced training and testing resources for athletes of all levels.

For the past years, the Cavaliers have been training in Independence, Ohio, but with the new facility located downtown, they will now be closer to their home court at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. This strategic move will allow the players to have easier access to their training facilities and the arena, enhancing their overall performance on the court.

As the team gears up for the upcoming season, starting with an away game in Toronto on October 23, followed by their home opener against Detroit, the Cavaliers are setting the stage for a new era of training and player development. The new training facility signifies the team’s commitment to excellence and providing its players with the resources they need to succeed in the competitive world of professional basketball.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are not just investing in a new building; they are investing in the future of their team and the city of Cleveland as a whole. With the new state-of-the-art training facility on the horizon, the Cavaliers are gearing up to reach new heights and achieve success both on and off the court.
