The Philadelphia Eagles made some significant roster moves following their 15-12 victory over the Saints on Sunday. Wide receiver Britain Covey, who suffered a shoulder injury during the game, has been placed on Injured Reserve. In his place, tight end Jack Stoll has been signed to the 53-man roster from the practice squad. Additionally, wide receiver John Ross has been signed to the practice squad to replace Stoll.
Covey, 27, had to leave the game in New Orleans after sustaining the injury and was later seen with his arm in a sling. Despite playing a limited role on offense, Covey has been the Eagles’ primary punt returner for some time. With his move to IR, Covey will have to miss at least four games before being eligible to return this season.
The Eagles currently have only two healthy receivers on their 53-man roster, Jahan Dotson and Johnny Wilson, with the status of A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith uncertain. This is why veteran John Ross has been brought back to the practice squad. Ross, a former 9th overall pick, was with the Eagles during training camp and provides additional depth at the receiver position.
In addition to these moves, tight end Jack Stoll has been promoted to the 53-man roster to fill the spot left vacant by Covey. Stoll, known for his blocking ability, played 13 snaps in the game against the Saints and will provide support at the tight end position.
The Eagles also have a number of wide receivers on their practice squad, including Parris Campbell, Danny Gray, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, and Kyle Philips. Campbell has been elevated for the last two games and is likely to be called up again for the upcoming matchup against the Buccaneers.
With these roster adjustments, the Eagles are preparing for their Week 4 game in Tampa and are looking to maintain their momentum after the win over the Saints. The team’s depth and versatility will be crucial as they navigate the challenges of the NFL season.
