New York Yankees catcher Jose Trevino has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left quad strain. This decision was made after he exited Friday’s game against the Baltimore Orioles in the top of the ninth inning. Trevino had hit a double and scored a run before being replaced by Austin Wells.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone mentioned that he believes Trevino sustained the injury during his slide to home plate in the ninth inning. Despite the unfortunate setback, Trevino had a solid performance in Friday’s game, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI. Throughout this season, he has maintained a batting average of .244 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs in 59 games.

Throughout his career spanning seven seasons with the Texas Rangers and the Yankees, Trevino has accumulated a .241 batting average with 32 home runs and 140 RBIs. His impressive performance in 2022 earned him an All-Star nomination and a Gold Glove award.

In response to Trevino’s placement on the injured list, the Yankees have called up catcher Carlos Narvaez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Despite never having played in a major league game, Narvaez has shown promise in Triple-A this season. The 25-year-old Venezuelan native has maintained a batting average of .269 with nine home runs and 47 RBIs in 71 games.

This injury presents an opportunity for Narvaez to showcase his skills at the major league level and contribute to the Yankees’ lineup in Trevino’s absence. While Trevino focuses on his recovery, the team remains optimistic about his return and looks forward to his continued contributions on the field.
