Star rookie pitcher Paul Skenes of the Pittsburgh Pirates has been selected to the MLB All-Star game, and his girlfriend Livvy Dunne, a former LSU gymnast and social media influencer, couldn’t be happier. Skenes, who was the first overall pick in the 2023 MLB draft, has had an outstanding rookie season since joining the big leagues in May. In just 10 starts, he has recorded an impressive 78 strikeouts with a 2.12 ERA and holds the record for the fastest average fastball velocity among all MLB starting pitchers at 99.2 mph. The Pirates have won 7 out of 10 games when he’s on the mound.
To celebrate Skenes’ All-Star selection, Dunne surprised him with cake, champagne, and balloons when he returned home after receiving the news. Skenes expressed his gratitude to his teammates in the clubhouse, acknowledging that he couldn’t have achieved this milestone without their support. He is the first Pirates rookie pitcher to ever be named to an All-Star Game, making history as the first player to be drafted number one overall and named an All-Star the following year.
Looking ahead, Skenes is also in the running to be the starting pitcher for the National League team, under the management of Torey Luvollo from the Arizona Diamondbacks. With his impressive performance on the field, Skenes’ All-Star journey may just be the beginning of many more accolades to come.
