The Jacksonville Jaguars and the city have approved a $1.4 billion project for the construction of the “Stadium of the Future.” This project will ensure that the Jaguars remain in Jacksonville for many years to come. The agreement involves both the franchise and the city contributing $625 million each, with an additional $150 million from Jacksonville to prepare EverBank Stadium for construction by 2026. Interestingly, there will be no new taxes imposed to fund this rebuild.

Construction is scheduled to commence after the 2025 season. During the 2026 season, the Jaguars will play in front of a reduced capacity crowd before hosting home games in either Gainesville or Orlando in 2027. The redesigned EverBank Stadium, unveiled last summer, is set to be four times wider than the current one. It will feature interactive social areas, local cuisine, state-of-the-art technology, and a shade canopy that reduces heat retention by 70%.

In addition to these upgrades, several other improvements are planned for the stadium, including shade for all seats, a 360-degree concourse, wider concourses, increased space for football operations, better vertical transportation, and the replacement of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical systems.

Despite rumors of a potential relocation to London, the Jaguars are committed to staying in Jacksonville long-term. The decision to renovate EverBank Stadium instead of building a new one was made after the organization determined it was feasible structurally. This renovation also positions Jacksonville to potentially host another Super Bowl, a feat the city has not achieved since 2005.

As part of the renovation plan, the Jaguars have already unveiled a state-of-the-art, 125,000-square-foot sports performance center during last year’s training camp. This facility includes locker rooms, meeting rooms, training and recovery areas, medical support facilities, weight rooms, dining areas, offices, and a draft room. Additionally, two grass practice fields and an indoor practice field will be included in the new training complex.

Overall, the renovated stadium will serve as the focal point of the Jaguars’ facility reconstruction, demonstrating the franchise’s dedication to the city and its fans.
