The Golden State Warriors recently unveiled their Classic Edition jerseys for the upcoming 2024-25 NBA season. The throwback jerseys will pay homage to the team’s time as the Philadelphia Warriors from 1946 to 1962, before they moved to San Francisco.
The Classic Edition uniforms will be white with red letters outlined in blue, and will feature red and yellow piping around the collar and sleeves. This design reflects the team’s roots and history in Philadelphia, where they won two of their seven championships.
One of the most iconic figures in Philadelphia Warriors history is Hall of Fame center Wilt Chamberlain, who was drafted by the team in 1959. Chamberlain had an incredible career with the Warriors, winning NBA MVP and Rookie of the Year awards in his debut season. He also set the single-game NBA scoring record with 100 points while playing for the Warriors in 1962.
This upcoming season will not be the first time the Warriors have honored their Philadelphia roots. They previously wore Philadelphia Warriors era uniforms during the 2021-22 season, which coincided with their 75th anniversary and their seventh NBA championship win.
Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season, the Warriors are optimistic about their chances. Despite missing the playoffs last season, the team finished with a solid 46-36 record. With the return of stars like Stephen Curry and Draymond Green, as well as the continued development of young players such as Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski, Moses Moody, and Trayce Jackson-Davis, the Warriors are hoping for a better outcome this year.
The Warriors will kick off their regular-season campaign on Oct. 23 with an away game against the Portland Trail Blazers. Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the team in their Classic Edition uniforms as they strive for success in the upcoming season.
