The Golden State Warriors recently made a significant move by acquiring guard Buddy Hield in a sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. This news was reported by The Athletic on Thursday. The trade involved the Warriors sending the Dallas Mavericks’ 2031 second-round draft pick to Philadelphia in exchange for Hield. This transaction was made possible by the sign-and-trade deal that sent Klay Thompson to Dallas earlier in the week.

Hield’s new deal with the Warriors is guaranteed for at least two years and $21 million, according to ESPN. The 31-year-old guard previously played for the Indiana Pacers before joining the 76ers last season. During his time with Philadelphia, Hield averaged 12.2 points in 32 regular-season games while maintaining shooting percentages of 42.6% from the field, 38.9% from three-point range, and an impressive 92.3% from the free-throw line.

Buddy Hield’s NBA journey began when he was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans in 2016. However, he was soon traded to the Sacramento Kings during his rookie season. After spending five years with the Kings, Hield was traded to the Indiana Pacers before eventually landing with the Philadelphia 76ers in February.

The acquisition of Buddy Hield comes at a crucial time for the Warriors, who recently lost Klay Thompson and waived veteran Chris Paul. In addition to Hield, Golden State has also added guard De’Anthony Melton on a one-year, $12.8 million deal and forward Kyle Anderson on a three-year, $27 million deal through a sign-and-trade agreement with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Warriors are looking to bounce back from a 46-36 season that ended with a loss to the Kings in the NBA Play-in Tournament. With the new additions to their roster, including Buddy Hield, Golden State aims to strengthen their lineup and make a competitive run in the upcoming season.
