Tyrese Martin had a standout performance as he scored 30 points, leading the injury-depleted Brooklyn Nets to a 127-117 victory over the Phoenix Suns. This win marked the Nets’ fourth victory in their last five games, while the Suns have struggled, losing seven of their last nine matchups.
In addition to Martin’s impressive showing, Dennis Schroder contributed 29 points to the Nets’ win. Martin shot an impressive 10 of 13 from the field, including 8 for 10 from beyond the arc, showcasing his scoring ability. This performance was a significant improvement from his previous games, where he had only scored a total of 33 points in 21 games.
Ben Simmons also had a solid game for Brooklyn, contributing 14 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists. On the other side, Devin Booker led the Suns with 31 points, while Kevin Durant, facing his former team, scored 30 points but also committed seven turnovers.
The Nets took control of the game with a 17-3 run in the third quarter, establishing a 12-point lead going into the final period. Despite being without key players like Cam Thomas, Nic Claxton, and Noah Clowney, the Nets managed to secure the win with contributions from players like Trendon Watford off the bench.
On the other hand, the Suns struggled with turnovers, giving up 24 points off 17 turnovers throughout the game. Martin’s standout performance was highlighted by a crucial play at the end of the third quarter when he was fouled by Durant while attempting a three-pointer. His two made free throws extended the Nets’ lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Martin, a second-round draft pick in 2023, had a breakout game after spending last season in the G League. The Nets will look to carry this momentum into their upcoming game against the Magic, while the Suns will aim to bounce back when they face the Warriors in their next matchup.
