Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Daulton Jefferies is facing some trouble with his pitching elbow, which has led to him being placed on the 15-day injured list. As a result, Ryder Ryan has been called up from Triple-A Indianapolis to take his place on the roster.
Jefferies, who is 28 years old, has not had the best performance since joining the Pirates in a trade with the San Francisco Giants back in May. In the four relief appearances he has made, he has a 6.30 ERA. Throughout his career with the Oakland Athletics, Giants, and now the Pirates, Jefferies has a record of 2-10 with a 6.59 ERA in a total of 20 games, with 11 of those being starts.
On the other hand, Ryan, who is 29 years old, has been performing better with a 1-0 record and a 3.46 ERA in 11 relief appearances this season for the Pirates. He made his debut in the major leagues last season with the Seattle Mariners, where he appeared in one game.
It’s unfortunate news for the Pirates to have Jefferies sidelined due to his injury, but it provides an opportunity for Ryan to showcase his skills and contribute to the team’s success. We’ll have to wait and see how Ryan performs in his new role and how long Jefferies will be out of action. Stay tuned for more updates on the Pirates’ pitching situation.
