American midfielder Paxten Aaronson has signed a contract extension with Eintracht Frankfurt until the 2027-28 season. The 21-year-old, who originally made his debut with Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union in 2021, joined Frankfurt in January 2023. During his time with Frankfurt, Aaronson has made a total of 22 appearances in all competitions.

In addition to extending his contract, Aaronson has been loaned to Utrecht in the Netherlands for the 2024-25 season. This move comes after a successful loan spell with Vitesse in the Netherlands, where he scored four goals in 14 Eredivisie appearances.

Frankfurt’s sporting director, Timmo Hardung, expressed his confidence in Aaronson’s development, stating that the playing time he received during his loan spell has been beneficial for his growth as a player. Hardung emphasized the importance of Aaronson continuing to play regularly and further develop his skills during his time at Utrecht.

Aaronson has also made one senior appearance for the U.S. national team, showcasing his potential on the international stage. As he continues to progress in his career, Aaronson will be looking to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Brenden, who is a regular member of the U.S. national team and recently completed a loan spell at Union Berlin from Leeds.

The loan move to Utrecht presents a new opportunity for Aaronson to continue his development and make significant strides in his career. With the support of his new club and the experience gained from his previous loan spells, Aaronson is poised to make a lasting impact both domestically and internationally in the coming seasons.
