Philadelphia 76ers’ star player Paul George suffered a hyperextended left knee during their recent game against the Memphis Grizzlies. Unfortunately, he was unable to return to the game and further testing will be conducted to determine the extent of the injury. This is the same knee that George had previously injured during the preseason, causing him to miss the first five games of the regular season.
Sixers’ coach Nick Nurse mentioned that he believes the injury is similar to the previous one, which was a bone bruise. George was close to returning to the game but his knee stiffened up, prompting Nurse to keep him out. This injury is the latest setback for the Sixers, who had George, Joel Embiid, and Tyrese Maxey all starting together for the first time. Maxey, who was back in action after a six-game absence due to a hamstring injury, also struggled during the game.
Despite the challenges, Nurse acknowledged that the team needs to do better and put together a more cohesive performance for the entire game. The Sixers will have a day off on Thursday before facing the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. This injury adds to the ongoing challenges the team is facing as they strive to find their rhythm and chemistry on the court.
