Lewis Hamilton was the fastest in the second practice session at the Spanish Grand Prix, setting a time of 1:13.264 for Mercedes. The session was full of surprises as Max Verstappen struggled and ended up in fifth place in his Red Bull car.

The competition at the front of the field in Formula 1 is becoming more intense, with Mercedes, Ferrari, and McLaren all showing strong performances in Practice Two. Carlos Sainz was just 0.022s behind Hamilton in second place, while Lando Norris, who topped the timesheets in Practice One, was only 0.055s off the pace in third.

Verstappen, on the other hand, faced challenges with the balance of his car, particularly in the high-speed corners of the Barcelona circuit. He finished 0.240s behind Hamilton in fifth place. His teammate, Sergio Perez, who had a three-place grid penalty from the previous race, struggled as well and ended up in 13th place.

In terms of team performance, Ferrari had a mixed day with Charles Leclerc in sixth and Oscar Piastri in seventh. Mercedes’ George Russell, who had shown strong pace on medium tires, slipped to eighth during the soft-tyre simulations.

The Spanish GP Practice Two Timesheet had Hamilton on top, followed by Sainz and Norris in second and third, respectively. Gasly and Verstappen completed the top five.
