The Los Angeles Angels have been missing their main man Mike Trout for the entire month of May. But hey, they’ve been on a winning streak lately, snagging eight victories in a row before hitting a bump in the road against the Miami Marlins on Saturday. Not too shabby, right? And the cherry on top is that Trout is expected to make a comeback soon. The exact return date is still up in the air, but the updates are sounding pretty positive.
When Trout does make his grand entrance, the Angels will have a tough decision on their hands. Do they stick him back in the outfield or do they make him the designated hitter? Manager Ron Washington isn’t sweating it just yet, according to Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register. “Once Mike is back, we can have that conversation right there, accomplish what we’re trying to accomplish, and move on. We don’t have to have pre-conversations.” Smart move, Ron.
Trout was moved from center field to right field earlier to keep him in tip-top shape, playing 22 games in right field and clocking in seven as the designated hitter. But with this latest setback, should the Angels consider making Trout a permanent DH? It’s definitely something to mull over, even if it means Jorge Soler stepping up to fill Trout’s shoes in the outfield. The Angels are currently sitting at 25-26 as of May 24, right in the middle of a nail-biting American League West race. Could this mean Trout becomes the DH to keep him safe from harm? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Javier Baez is really stealing the show in the 2025 MLB season, huh? Pete Rose’s recent announcement has got everyone questioning the Hall of Fame. And let’s not forget about that Athletics rookie who’s giving Aaron Judge a run for his money as the best AL hitter. Oh, and did you catch Fernando Tatis Jr.’s epic walk-off home run? Talk about a showstopper. Baseball season is heating up, folks.
