Kelsey Plum put on a show for the Las Vegas Aces in their recent game against the Washington Mystics, leading her team to a decisive 98-77 victory. Plum’s incredible shooting skills were on full display as she scored an impressive 28 points, making 10 out of 13 shots, including 6 out of 9 from beyond the arc. Jackie Young also had a stellar performance, contributing 20 points and 10 assists, while A’ja Wilson added 18 points and nine rebounds.
The Aces, who now boast a season-best six-game winning streak, shot an impressive 59.4 percent from the field, making up for their 19 turnovers. Plum’s 28-point game followed her exceptional 34-point performance against Indiana earlier in the week. On the Mystics’ side, Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored 19 points, with 10 of them coming in the first half, while Ariel Atkins added 18 points and Emily Engstler chipped in with 10 points and eight rebounds off the bench.
Despite the Mystics’ recent success, winning five of their past eight games, they couldn’t keep up with the Aces in this matchup. Washington managed to stay close until midway through the third quarter when Young and Wilson ignited a scoring run that put the game out of reach. The Aces scored an impressive 35 points in the third quarter, with Plum sinking two crucial 3-pointers in just 24 seconds late in the period.
By the start of the fourth quarter, the Aces had built a commanding 30-point lead. Although they seemed poised to reach the 100-point mark for the second time this season, they slowed down in the final minutes, scoring just five points. At halftime, Las Vegas held a 48-35 lead, with Plum already racking up 16 points, including four 3-pointers.
This victory marks the second time in less than a week that the Aces have defeated the Mystics, following an 88-77 win in Washington. Las Vegas continues to impress with their strong performances, led by the dynamic duo of Plum and Wilson. The Aces’ dominant win over the Mystics solidifies their position as a top contender in the WNBA this season.
