Nottingham Forest captain Morgan Gibbs-White, manager Nuno Espirito Santo, and Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler are facing charges from the Football Association after receiving red cards in Sunday’s Premier League match. Gibbs-White was sent off in the 83rd minute for a second booking, while both managers were also dismissed during the incident.
Gibbs-White has been charged with acting improperly and/or using abusive and insulting language towards fourth official Anthony Taylor. Nuno and Hurzeler are both facing charges of improper conduct, with Nuno also accused of using abusive language towards a match official. The three individuals have until Friday, 27 September to respond to the charges.
The Nottingham Forest midfielder was shown a second yellow card for a sliding tackle on Brighton’s Joao Pedro towards the end of the game. Hurzeler and Nuno were sent off by referee Rob Jones for their reactions to the incident on the touchline during the 2-2 draw between the two clubs.
As a result of their red cards, Gibbs-White and Nuno will be unavailable for selection for Forest’s upcoming home game against Fulham, while Hurzeler will not be able to be in the dugout for Brighton’s match against Chelsea on the same day.
This incident highlights the importance of maintaining composure and respect towards match officials, as the consequences of misconduct can have a significant impact on both the players and the managers. It serves as a reminder that discipline and sportsmanship are crucial aspects of professional football, and that all individuals involved in the game are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner at all times.
