The Sacramento Kings are looking to make moves in the sign-and-trade market, specifically involving DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls. According to reports from Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, the Kings have engaged in discussions with the Bulls regarding a potential deal.

DeRozan, a six-time All-Star, is currently exploring his options in free agency after spending the last three seasons with the Bulls. Jackson also mentioned that DeRozan has shown interest in joining the Miami Heat, although the Heat may not be able to meet his contract demands at the moment.

The 34-year-old shooting guard has been putting up impressive numbers, averaging 24.0 points and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 48.0 percent from the field. His playing time of 37.8 minutes per game was the highest in the league during the 2023-24 season, indicating that he still has plenty left in the tank.

Reports also suggest that the Los Angeles Lakers are among the teams pursuing DeRozan, showing that there is significant interest in the veteran scorer. The Bulls, on the other hand, are reportedly open to exploring a sign-and-trade deal, with the potential requirement of a contract spanning at least three years.

In their pursuit of DeRozan, the Kings may be looking to include players like Harrison Barnes or Kevin Huerter in a possible trade package. Despite having talented players like De’Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis on their roster, the Kings have struggled to make a deep playoff run in the competitive Western Conference.

General manager Monte McNair has already made moves this offseason, re-signing Malik Monk and acquiring Jalen McDaniels. However, adding an experienced scorer like DeRozan could provide a significant boost to the Kings’ offense and playoff aspirations.

While discussions between the Kings and Bulls have not yet resulted in a deal, there is a possibility that they could revisit negotiations if DeRozan’s other potential suitors are not able to meet his requirements. With DeRozan’s playoff experience and scoring ability, he could be a valuable addition to any team looking to make a postseason push.
