DeMar DeRozan had an outstanding game, scoring 27 points to lead the Sacramento Kings to a 122-107 victory over the Toronto Raptors. This marked DeRozan’s eighth consecutive game with at least 20 points since joining the Kings, breaking a franchise record previously held by Chris Webber.
In addition to DeRozan’s impressive performance, Domantas Sabonis recorded his third triple-double of the season with 17 points, 13 assists, and 11 rebounds. Sabonis was perfect from the field, shooting 6 for 6, and made all 5 of his free-throw attempts. Keegan Murray contributed 22 points and 12 rebounds, while De’Aaron Fox added 21 points to help secure the win for Sacramento.
Despite a strong showing from RJ Barrett, who scored 23 points for the Raptors, Toronto struggled in the final quarter, being outscored 33-14 by the Kings. Davion Mitchell, playing his first game in Sacramento since being traded to Toronto, put up 20 points in the losing effort.
Fox, dealing with a finger injury, had a tough shooting night, going 5 for 17 from the field and 2 of 8 from beyond the arc. However, the Kings managed to rally in the fourth quarter, going on a 9-0 run that ultimately secured the victory. DeRozan and Malik Monk played crucial roles in the Kings’ late-game surge.
Sabonis made NBA history by recording a triple-double without missing a single shot from the field or the free-throw line, a rare feat that had only been accomplished seven times since the 1982-83 season.
Looking ahead, the Raptors will face the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night, while the Kings will host the Clippers on Friday night. The win against the Raptors marks a significant milestone for DeRozan and the Kings, demonstrating their potential for success in the ongoing NBA season.
