Colorado’s football team made headlines in the recruiting world with the recent commitments from four promising prospects. The Buffaloes secured commitments from IMG Academy defenders London Merritt and Alexander McPherson, offensive tackle Carde Smith, and wide receiver Quentin Gibson in a span of just 30 minutes. This exciting news was announced on the “Nightcap” talk show hosted by former NFL stars Shannon Sharpe and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.

These commitments come shortly after the Buffaloes received a significant pledge from five-star quarterback Julian Lewis, who is ranked as ESPN’s No. 2 overall prospect for the 2025 class. With these additions, coach Deion Sanders has gathered a total of 15 commitments for the incoming recruiting class, propelling Colorado to the 50th spot in ESPN’s latest class rankings.

London Merritt, ranked at No. 52 in the ESPN 300, stands out as the highest-profile commitment among the new recruits heading to Colorado. As ESPN’s No. 5 defensive end prospect, Merritt was initially part of Ohio State’s 2025 class before changing his commitment to the Buffaloes. This decision places him as the second-highest ranked commit for Colorado in this recruiting cycle, following behind Julian Lewis.

Both Merritt and McPherson visited Colorado earlier in the month, with McPherson committing to the Buffaloes shortly after decommitting from Oklahoma State. Carde Smith, ranked at No. 293 in the ESPN 300 as the No. 32 offensive tackle prospect for 2025, also chose Colorado after retracting his pledge from USC. The offensive tackle from Mobile, Alabama, visited Colorado multiple times, adding depth to the Buffaloes’ offensive line.

Quentin Gibson, a talented wide receiver from Fort Worth, Texas, also decided to commit to Colorado after considering offers from various other schools. His decision to join the Buffaloes adds another dimension to the team’s offense, showcasing Sanders’ ability to attract top talent to the program.

Since October 25th, Colorado has been on a recruiting streak, securing seven commitments leading up to the early signing period. The team will conclude its regular season with a game against Oklahoma State, providing an opportunity for fans to see some of the future stars in action. With the addition of these four prospects, the Buffaloes are poised to make a statement in the 2025 season and beyond.
