Chelsea is currently in discussions with Atlético Madrid for the potential signing of 20-year-old forward Samu Omorodion. The London club is considering Omorodion as an alternative to Aston Villa’s Jhon Durán in their search for a new striker. Omorodion, who was on loan at Alavés last season, scored nine goals in 35 appearances and could cost more than £30m.
Although Chelsea has been given permission to negotiate with Durán, who is valued at £40m, they are hesitant to proceed with a deal due to the striker’s high wage demands and concerns over his attitude from Villa. In addition to Omorodion and Durán, Chelsea is also competing for Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and has unidentified targets in the attack. The club is open to signing a striker with Premier League experience but may be priced out of a move for Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke. Benjamin Sesko, Chelsea’s initial top target, will not be joining the team as he remains at RB Leipzig.
With Enzo Maresca as the new head coach, Chelsea is looking to strengthen their attacking options. Maresca is reluctant to rely solely on Nicolas Jackson as the team’s senior striker, despite Jackson’s promising debut season at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea also needs to make decisions regarding David Datro Fofana, who has returned from a successful loan at Burnley, and is looking to offload Armando Broja, who is attracting interest from Everton.
Meanwhile, West Ham is in discussions for a potential move for Wolves defender Max Kilman. Manager Julen Lopetegui is seeking reinforcements in the centre-back position and views Kilman as a top target, given their previous association at Molineux. Although West Ham has not yet made an offer for Kilman, it is believed that a bid of £45m could secure his services, despite Wolves’ desire to retain him.
