Baker Mayfield recently shared how his experience playing for four different teams in just three years took a toll on him. Moving from the Cleveland Browns in 2021 to the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Rams, and finally settling in with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023, Mayfield expressed how finding stability in Tampa Bay has been a game-changer for him. He compared the constant team changes to being treated like “dirty laundry” and expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received in Tampa.

During his first season with the Buccaneers, Mayfield had an impressive performance, completing 64.3% of his passes for 4,044 yards, 28 touchdowns, and only 10 interceptions, earning a 94.6 passer rating. He led Tampa Bay to the divisional round of the NFC playoffs, showcasing his skills under pressure. His 87.9 passer rating when faced with pressure ranked third in the NFL, and his 36.6% completion rate in tight windows was the second-best in the league.

The Buccaneers were impressed by Mayfield’s performance and decided to commit to him as their starting quarterback for the next three seasons. They offered him a lucrative three-year, $100 million deal with $50 million in guarantees. Despite already earning his first Pro Bowl nod last year, Mayfield, at just 29 years old, believes that the best is yet to come.

Mayfield expressed his joy and excitement about the long-term extension with the Buccaneers, highlighting the camaraderie he shares with his teammates. He emphasized the importance of building chemistry with the team and looked forward to another successful season ahead. With the majority of the group staying intact, Mayfield is eager to continue his journey with the Buccaneers and aims to achieve even greater success in the coming years.
