The New Orleans Saints made a noteworthy addition to their roster by signing wide receiver Samson Nacua, who is the older brother of Los Angeles Rams star Puka Nacua. The team confirmed this news on Friday, announcing that Nacua would be joining their ranks.

In order to accommodate Nacua on the team, the Saints decided to terminate the contract of Nathan Peterman, who was their No. 4 quarterback in training camp. This move reflects the team’s confidence in Nacua’s potential contribution to the team.

At 26 years old, Nacua has a solid background in college football, having played at both Utah (2017-20) and BYU (2021). Throughout his college career, he managed to catch 103 passes for a total of 1,344 yards and 14 touchdowns. Additionally, Nacua has gained some professional experience by playing in the USFL for the Pittsburgh Maulers in 2023 and later joining the UFL’s Michigan Panthers. In his most recent season, he recorded 11 receptions for 125 yards.

Although Nacua has never played in the NFL, he did have a brief stint with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 as an undrafted free agent. Despite not making his NFL debut at that time, Nacua’s potential was recognized, leading to his signing with the Saints.

This signing comes at a crucial time for the Saints, as they are currently facing injuries among their receiving corps. Players like Cedrick Wilson, Equanimeous St. Brown, and Bub Means are dealing with various physical ailments, leaving gaps that Nacua and recently signed wide receiver Marquez Callaway will need to fill.

Overall, the addition of Samson Nacua to the New Orleans Saints brings a mix of potential and experience to the team’s roster. As he joins forces with his new teammates, Nacua will have the opportunity to showcase his talents on the field and contribute to the Saints’ ongoing efforts to secure victories in the upcoming season.
