Defensive lineman Calais Campbell recently completed his 16th season with the Falcons, playing in every game for the NFC South team. At the age of 38, Campbell had the option to retire, but instead, he decided to sign with the Dolphins for his 17th season.
During a video conference, Campbell mentioned that he briefly considered retirement. However, after some contemplation and discussions with his family, he realized that he still had the passion and drive to continue playing at a high level. Despite his age, Campbell feels that his love for the game has not wavered.
Reflecting on his performance in the previous season with Atlanta, Campbell had a productive year with 6.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, and 17 quarterback hits. Even though he acknowledges that he may not be as fast and agile as he once was, Campbell believes that he can still be effective on the field by utilizing his experience and diverse skill set.
Throughout his career, Campbell has amassed an impressive 105.5 sacks, 175 tackles for loss, and 254 quarterback hits in 244 games. His consistent performance and dedication to the sport have been key factors in his decision to continue playing.
