Oregon Ducks defensive back Khyree Jackson, a rising football star and NFL draft pick, tragically lost his life in a car accident in Maryland. To honor his memory, Oregon will be hosting a candlelight vigil at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. Jackson, along with two high school football teammates, was involved in a fatal crash early Saturday morning.

Jackson, who was only 24 years old, had been drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round and was on the brink of starting his NFL career. His journey to the NFL included stints at junior college, Alabama, and finally Oregon, where he played in the 2023 season.

The tragic accident occurred when the car Jackson was riding in, a Dodge Charger, was struck by an Infiniti Q50 that was changing lanes at a high speed. The impact of the crash caused the Charger to veer off the road and collide with multiple tree stumps. The other occupants of the Charger, Isaiah Hazel and Anthony Lytton Jr., were also involved in the accident.

As the police investigation into the crash continues, no charges have been filed yet. Authorities suspect that alcohol may have played a role in the incident. The driver of the Infiniti, identified as Cori Clingman, and her passengers escaped unhurt, while the driver of the Chevrolet Impala involved in the crash was unharmed.

The candlelight vigil at Autzen Stadium will serve as a tribute to Khyree Jackson’s life and promising career. Oregon Football has extended an open invitation to all who wish to commemorate his memory. The event is scheduled for Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at the South Gate entrance of the stadium.

As we mourn the loss of a talented athlete and a beloved member of the Oregon Ducks family, let us come together to celebrate the legacy that Khyree Jackson leaves behind. Join us at Autzen Stadium to honor his memory and support his loved ones during this difficult time.
