Isaiah Buggs, a defensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs, has been released by the team following his second arrest this offseason. The 27-year-old is currently in jail facing charges of domestic violence and burglary after an incident in Alabama earlier this month. This recent arrest occurred on June 16, where Buggs allegedly entered a woman’s apartment unlawfully and dragged her down the stairs with criminal intent. This comes shortly after Buggs turned himself in for misdemeanor charges of animal cruelty.

Buggs’ agent, Trey Robinson, believes that his client is being targeted in a campaign to shut down his business in Tuscaloosa. Despite being drafted in the sixth round out of Alabama in 2019, Buggs only recently joined the Chiefs in January as part of the practice squad. Although he signed a new contract in February, he had yet to make an appearance in a game for Kansas City. Prior to his time with the Chiefs, Buggs played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Detroit Lions as a reserve lineman.

Unfortunately, Buggs is not the only Chiefs player facing legal issues this offseason. Wide receiver Rashee Rice is also in trouble after a high-speed car crash in March resulted in multiple criminal charges. It seems that the Chiefs are dealing with off-field problems that are impacting the team’s roster and reputation. It remains to be seen how the team will address these challenges and move forward in the upcoming season.
