The Jacksonville Jaguars are planning to spend a significant amount of time playing overseas during the 2027 season. This decision comes as part of the new stadium legislation that the City Council will soon vote on. The Jaguars would have the option to play “up to three” of their home games in London in 2027 while renovations are being done at EverBank Stadium.
Aside from London, Jacksonville is also considering other possible sites for their games such as the Camping World Stadium in Orlando and Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at the University of Florida. This news follows the announcement of a stadium renovation agreement between the Jaguars and the City of Jacksonville, along with a 30-year lease, which was made on May 14. This $1.4 billion deal is the largest public infrastructure investment in Jacksonville’s history.
The Jaguars are no strangers to playing in London, having appeared in 11 games in Europe since their debut in 2013. They are scheduled to play multiple games in London during the 2024 season, facing the Chicago Bears at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Oct. 13 and the New England Patriots at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 20.
Although the team is comfortable playing overseas, team president Mark Lamping mentioned that he is “almost certain” the 2027 home games will take place at Camping World Stadium or Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Initially, the team had planned to eliminate all home games at EverBank Stadium in 2026 and 2027 to complete construction by 2028. However, an agreement was reached between the Jaguars and Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan to still allow home games in 2026 with reduced seating.
Looking ahead, the Jaguars are aiming to make a return to the playoffs in 2024 with quarterback Trevor Lawrence leading the way. Lawrence recently signed a five-year contract extension worth $275 million on June 13. With these developments, it will be interesting to see how the Jaguars perform in the upcoming seasons and how the potential London games in 2027 will impact the team and its fans.
