Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore is gonna be suspended for two games, folks. The school decided to impose some penalties on him for his alleged involvement in the Connor Stalions advanced scouting scandal. According to ESPN, Moore won’t be able to coach during Michigan’s Week 3 game against Central Michigan and their Week 4 matchup with Nebraska. Looks like he’s gonna have some time off to reflect on his actions.
The suspension won’t start at the beginning of Michigan’s 2025 season, though. Moore will still be on the sidelines for the Wolverines’ game against New Mexico in Week 1 and when they face Oklahoma, his alma mater, in Week 2. But hey, at least he’ll have a couple of weeks to watch the games from the stands like the rest of us, right?
Even though Moore is getting a two-game suspension, there’s a chance he could be facing more consequences from the NCAA. Yahoo Sports reported that there will be a hearing in front of the Committee on Infractions in June to discuss Michigan’s case. Let’s see what else the NCAA has in store for Moore and the Wolverines.
This whole scandal dates back to 2023 when it was revealed that Stalions, a former Michigan staffer, set up a system to steal signs from other teams. The scandal caused quite a stir in the college football world, especially during Michigan’s national championship season. Moore was the offensive coordinator back then, and it was even rumored that he deleted some text messages between him and Stalions. Not a good look, coach.
Jim Harbaugh, the head coach at the time, got a three-game suspension from the Big Ten when the allegations first came out. After leading Michigan to a national championship, Harbaugh left to coach the Los Angeles Chargers. Moore took over as head coach in January 2024 and won all three games during Harbaugh’s suspension. Talk about stepping up to the plate, right?
Right before Moore’s first regular season as head coach, the NCAA hit Michigan with a notice of allegations. Eleven citations were included, with six of them being the most serious Level 1 violations. It was a rough start for Moore, but he’s been trying to make things right ever since.
Folks, this is a developing story, so we’ll have to wait and see how things unfold for Moore and Michigan. Stay tuned for more updates on this scandal that shook the college football world. Who knows what the NCAA has up its sleeve for them?
Not really sure why this matters, but it looks like Moore is in some hot water. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel like this scandal won’t be easily forgotten. Let’s see how Michigan bounces back from this setback.
