Georgia Tech basketball player Colbie Young has been given the go-ahead to return to practice after being cleared by the university’s Equal Opportunity Office. The player had been suspended from the team following his arrest on misdemeanor charges of battery and assault on an unborn child back in October. However, he will not be able to participate in games until his legal issues are fully resolved, with an arraignment scheduled for December 10.
Young’s attorney, Kim Stephens, expressed hope that the charges against his client will be dropped soon, especially since the woman involved in the incident has retracted her statement to the police and requested the charges be dismissed. She claimed that the police report did not accurately depict the events that took place between her and Young on the night of the arrest.
Despite the ongoing legal matters, Young has returned to team activities, including practice, and is eager to put the incident behind him. The athlete, who transferred from Miami to Georgia, has had a successful season with 11 catches for 139 yards and two touchdowns.
The Bulldogs are set to face off against Georgia Tech, and with a victory, they would secure a spot in the College Football Playoff for the third time in four seasons. However, if they lose, they may still be considered for an at-large berth in the playoff. The team is gearing up for an exciting end to the season, with high hopes for a successful outcome.
